- In Scrugán long ago robbers used to rob kill and bury men. They were often buried alive there and the marks of their graves are still to be seen. One morning "Thomas Smyth, labourer, Grangemore Raharney" and another man was out shooting and they sat down to rest on a ditch They were not long sitting when a coffin passed by with two lit candles on it. They followed it and read the breastplate, it was an old woman that was dead 400 years.
- Hugh Clarke Farmer, age 62 Derrymore Killucan says the old people called "Rah Airne" "Rath Carney" and that it is the correct name.
- Ballyhaw means Báile Atha or more likely Báile Áir as in the year about 1850 on the sinking of Rivers and drains many skeletons and impliments were found.(continues on next page)
