  1. There is a ruined castle in the Old Court on the shores of Deravaragh. Lord Mortimor lived in it. Nobody in this district knows who built it.
    The castle is situated in the parish of Faughalstown and in the barony of Fore. It was inhabited up to the days of Cromwell. It was he who shelled it. It is in ruins now. The people say that there is an underground passage leading from it to the other castle in Killtoom that belonged to the Nugents, who were an old Irish
