  1. Saint Fechin's Staff was in possession of the Nugents of Multyfarnham. Both the Nugents of Farrenconnell and Multyfarnham were Catholics at one time and helped the priests and hid them.
    It is not given in history why Saint Fechin's Staff was removed from Multyfarnham to Farrenconnell, perhaps for safety. The old people of this neighbourhood over ninety years old remember to see it.
    From the day it came to Farrenconnell ill-luck followed the Nugents.
