I stole up by the singing stream up through the silent glade.
Till I heard a soft mild murmur from the trellis bramble shade,
And behold! a sight below me in my menory I enshine.
For the scene that day before me,
    Shall always glad my mind
There round a little holy well a priest and people kneel.
While near, a foamy fountain out through the brambles steal,
And above the fountain music soft voices swell.
As "A Naomh Mhuire Mhathain De" floats round the holy well.
