- We kept our hens in a house called the henhouse. It is about ten feet long, and seven broad. There are five sticks across it, on which the hens stand at night. We clean it every Saturday, and shake lime on it to disinfect it.
The chickens take the pip when they are young. A feather is stuck down their throat to take up the worms. Blue stone is melted and put on their food. - Collector
