  1. Every year my father prepares the ground for potatoes. He sows Garden Fillers, British Queens, Epicures, Aran Banners, Shamrocks, Aran Victors, Champions, Kerr Pinks, Leinster Wonders, and black bulls. They are mostly sown on drills. The drills are made with a plough and fixed ready with the manure. Epicures, Garden Fillers and British Queens are early potatoes. The rest are later varieties. Long ago people used to make drills with a spade.
