  1. The wild birds most commonly found in this district are, robins, thrushes, starlings, crows, blackbirds, magpies, yellowhammers, stonechats, linnets, wagtails, swallows, tom-tits, chaffinches, wrens, sea-gulls, goldfinches, cuckoos, corncrakes, sparrows, hawks, pigeons, larks and curlews.
    Three of these birds migrate. These are the swallows, cuckoos and corncrakes. The corncrakes come here in June and they migrate before winter. Some of the corncrakes do not migrate at all but remain here during the winter and sleep most of it. The swallows come here in the month of May and remain here until September. Then they go away to
