  1. In almost every part of Ireland certain articles are placed in position, to honour some Saint or feast, such as crosses, St Brigids cross is made on the eve of her feast. It is made of three rushes platted downwards, and three more platted across, it is made in the shape of an anchor, by all the people who keep the custom.
    When made it is placed in the roof of the house and some put it hanging in the cow shed to bring good luck to the stock. St Patricks cross is not made in this district, but there are crosses made with cardboard, and green silk, worn
