   The people put lime on the potatoes before planting them and some put dry ashes. The potatoes are stored in a pit in the field and sometimes they are stored on a loft.
   The Shamrocks grow best around my district. Usually there are a good many under a stalk and they do not get black.

   My father generally has an acre or an acre and a half of land under potatoes. The amount of the crop varies. Some years they are a great success and other years they are not so good. My brother prepares the ground. He makes drills with the plough. Thomas Buchannon of Macetown used a wooden plough preparing the ground. There is one in his house yet. Spades are made in factories. When the drills are made they put out manure in little heaps through the field.
