  1. About 90 years ago at a place known as Kilsharvan a man named Fr Matthew gave a temperance speech. While he spoke, he usually stood on the steps of house now occupied by a family of Mc Donald's. His instruction lasted for about an hour, and a great number of people were assembled there.

  2. The aunt of the present Miss Flynn of Shallon once attended a meeting of Dan O'Connell held in Drogheda the year of which is unknown. After the meeting a linen table cloth with his image woven on it was presented to him by the Drogheda Linen Mills.
