  1. There were three houseburnings in this district. The first fire occured on Mr. T. Healy's premises about thirty years ago. The cause of the fire was supposed to be a lighted cigarette end. It lasted about six hours. The damage amounted to £2,000. Luckily the building was insured. No lives were lost.
    The seckond fire occured in Collon R.I.C. barricks in the year 1919. The cause of the fire was to further the cause of Irish Freedom. No lives were lost or endangered. The fire completely gutted the building. The last fire occured about sixteen years ago. In the house of Mr. C. McKeever Collon. The house contained a selection of valuable furniture both modern and antique. The occupants in this case had a very narrow escape through the windows and the husband and wife had just reached the bottom of the stairs when the stairs collapsed. The cause was not discovered. It was supposed to be
