  1. There are four corners on my bed,
    There are four angels round my spread,
    Mathew, Mark, Luke and John,
    God bless this bed that I lie on, and if any thing should happen me before morning may the Blessed Virgin Mary awaken me and pray for me.
    Here I lay my body down to sleep,
    I give my soul to God to keep, and if I die before I wake, I pray that God my soul may take.
    I must die, I know not, nor how, nor where but if I die in mortal sin, I am lost forever, O Jesus have mercy on me. Amen.
    These prayers are to be said before going to bed
    Holy Mary mother of God pick the potatoes out of the sod. Hail Mary full of grace help to pick the potatoes out of the face.
    These prayers are to be said while picking potatoes.
