  1. Stye on the Eye
Gooseberry "dalks" or or prickles are the cure of this
    Seven dalks are picked.
They are put to they stye by a boy who has never seen his father
He says "Stye, stye take care of the dalk - in the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost" with each dalk, which is then thrown away across the right shoulder of the boy performing the cure.
This cure is used by many around here.
    Kicne Much (Mumps)
This is cured in the pig stye.
Any person who knows the procedure can perform the cure. The child is brought to the pig stye & passed under & over the pig seven times
Until quite recently this cure has been used.
There may be a few who still believe in it
I have not been able to get the words used.
    Blast - A painful swelling
Clay smeared over the swelling was the cure of this
Only certain people can LIFT the clay
It is made into a paste with water
Prayers are said during the spreading of the clay.
