throw it behind him. He did so and a wood appeared. The witch sent one of the men home for an axe so she could make her way through the wood. She followed them on until she caught sight of them again. She told him to take a drop of sweat from the horses ear and let it fall behind him. He did so and a lake appeared. The witch was drowned and the people were safe.

On St Brigid's Eve the people of this locality put a cross up on the rafters of the house.
The old person made their cross of straw but the young ones make a wooden cross.
The young people are not able to make the straw cross.
