- (continued from previous page)Ned would not agree as he thought that he deserved more than one third share, after arguing for some time they agree to give Ned half of the find. They started to lift the stone with the spades and when they were just raising the stone a cat rushed out from underneath it and stood in front of them. They both fell back with the fright and the candle fell from the girl's hands and she ran away. The two men also fled and only stopped when they found Wills sister lying in a faint in the field. They picked her up and carried her home. She recovered from her faint on the way home and she begged of the others not to back for the spades that night. When they did go next morning they found them and the hole which they had opened and under the flag stone they saw a lot of withered leaves and ashes. They never went near the place after that. Several other people claim that they too dreamt of gold being hidden there but never had they courage enough to search for it.
