Signs of good and bad weather.
When the Galtie mountains seem near, we are sure of rain, and bad weather, and when they seem far away the weather will be good.
When a cat turns his back to the fire, we have a sign of bad weather.
When soot falls from the chimney we have a sign of bad weather, and when the smoke from chimney goes up straight, we have a sign of good weather.
When an ass rolls in the dust, it is a sign of good weather.
When swallows fly high, this gives an indication of good weather, and when they fly low we are sure to get rain.
Thus we can say the same of insects, as the swallows fly where their food can be got easily.
When the goats come down from the hills or mountains bad weather is sure to follow.
When the spiders creep from their cobwebs, we have a sign of rain to follow(continues on next page)
