Two sheep-stealers, a tall man and a small, had completed their job in the Galtees.

Two sheep-stealers, a tall man and a small, had completed their "job" on the Galtees. The stolen sheep was tied on the back of the tall man with his forelegs across his shoulders. The owner came on them. The tall man made off with his burden.
"Faid a theighim, Teighim" says he.

This saying has passed into a kind of proverb in the district with regard to
    (1) A short life and a gay one
    (2) A Spendthrift
    (3) A makeshift arrangement - like tying up a broken trace with a piece of cord.
