   16th March 1938. Weather lore. The South East wind brings most rain to this district. A rainbow in the morning is a sign of rain, as the old saying tells us "a rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning and a rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight." When the birds, or especially swallows and crows fly low to the ground wet weather is approaching, and when they fly high fine weather is probable. A fog on Slievenamon is a sure sign of wet weather.
