  1. There was a skirmish in my district between Smith O'Brien, leader of the Young Irelanders and the (English Soldiers) police. A widow whose name was Mac Cormack lived in the house with her four children. The day of the skirmish Mrs. Mac Cormack went to the Commons for messages. While she was gone the (Soldiers) police who were attached by O'Brien entered the house. A skirmish took place but after a while the parish priest came and stopped it. Two of the civilians were shot.
