  1. Warts:
    Anyone suffering from warts can be cured by getting some person to rub them with a piece of fat bacon, the person then burying the bacon in a manure heap. As the bacon rots the warts will disappear
    Whooping or Chin Cough.
    This can be cured by getting the child to crawl between a grey horse's legs.
    More frequently a cure is sought in another way.
    The mother of the child remains on the road until some one passes along with a white or grey horse.
    When sufficiently near she steps out on the road and says
    "Man with the grey horse what cure for the chin cough"
    Whatever remedy he gives, suppose it is tea, whiskey, mil, onions or anything else proves efficacious
