On the farm of Con Fogarty...

On the farm of Con Fogarty of Boulabeha there is a field called "Kurrak". It is a low lying swampy field (in Irish Currach)
In this field was a very big clump of blackthorn bushes. A Sweney owned the field at that time and one of them set about removing the clump of bushes from the field. The work was of some days duration. After the first day one fine healthy cow died in the field, on the next day a second was lying in the field in a weak condition.
They ceased working and made up the earth or mound around the bushes.
It is said that Mass used to be said in the shade of those bushes in the Penal Days.
