The district never contained many more houses than at present two or three is all I could hear of.
The land is fairly level, but there are some sharp hills. In part of a field known as the "castle park" there is a round hill which looks as if it were raised by man and on top of this hill stands a large flat stone; this is between four and five feet in height, and seems to be sunk very deep in the hill. It is said that in years gone by a great warrior was buried under this stone.
In the district, the two most noted ruins in this parish are situated; these are the ruins of the old castle and the old church. These have been already referred to at pages 1 and 2.
There is now wood in Clonakenny; the land is all good for tillage and grass
