    [-]
In her early days there were many men in the parish noted for their strength, John Treacy was one he carried a forty stone bag of grain up and down a stairs for a bet.
John Brennan often carried a plough on his shoulders for near a quarter of a mile from a neighbour's garden to his own, and it was quite a usual thing for him to carry a harrow. He left here and went to Cloughjordan to work in a quarry and he lifted a stone which it would take three ordinary men to lift.
Another man named Ned Gunder lifted a ten stone bag of flour with his teeth.
