  1. A prayer I learned from hearing others say it when I was a child -
"Here as I lay down to sleep
To God I give my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
To God I give my soul to take
    Matthew Mark Luke and John
Bless the bed that I lie on
There are four corners to my bed
There are four angels round my head"
The foregoing was said when lying down to sleep.
Another version of above has added to it at the end.
If I die before I wake
To God I give my soul to take
There are four corners to my bed.
There are four angels on them spread.
As I looked up at the Blessed lamb
I saw the Blessed Virgin coming on
Seven mass books in her hand
Seven candles lighting seven bells ringing Seven priests singing
Open the gates of Heaven shut the gates of hell
'tis time for my poor soul to go to Heaven for evermore.
    Amen
