  1. Local Ruins
In our school district of Rockhill there are three castles, one in the graveyard of Bruree supposed to have been built by the Knights Templars, this castle is in the townland of Ballynoe in the parish of Bruree in the Barony of Upper Connello in the county Limerick.
There are two other castles on the banks of the Maigue in the farm of Mr. O'Callaghan in the townland of Lottera in the parish of Rockhill. These latter castles are supposed to have been built by De Lacy. These castles are supposed to be about seven hundred years old. The castles in the neighbourhood are supposed to be connected by underground passages. The gateway tower was called O'Donovan's prison.
Lios a liam is a fort to the north-west of the lower castle
