  1. Crotaire na Gruaige was a poet and he had fair hair hanging down over his shoulders. He used to go around from place to place looking for lodgings. He used to ride a horse. One night he came to a house in Cratloe. The people of the house were up very late. And Crotaire na Gruaige was sleeping in the corner. And some of those who were inside cut his hair. When he woke in the morning and saw his hair cut he was very vexed and he sent the owner of the house a plague of rats.
