    got married and to throw an old shoe or an old slipper after the boy or girl. There was another custom also, that boys dressed from head to foot in straw called "Straw Boys" used to tie a rope across the road in front of the couple and sometimes across the Chapel gate. They used throw some money on the ground and leave it there and let whoever liked take it.
    When the "Straw Boys" saw that the two were gone they would come along and take the money and the rope.
    The hauling home meant that marriages used take place in the house of the girl long ago and after the wedding she used stay at home for nine or ten days
