  1. The meadow in our farm at home is called "Bóthairín na Gearta" This is how it got its name, in olden times Bóthairín was the only passage for the many families that lived in Knockgoura. I was told that these people were very poor and had nothing but two or three goats for their milk supply. As there wasn't any tenant in Knockgoura they let them roam all over the hill hence it got the name of "Knockgoura" or "Hill of the Goats".
