   A lovely story is told about the robin's red breast. The robin out of compassion, came to pull the thorns out of Our Lord's head, when he was dying on the Cross, and tradition says that one drop of blood fell on the robin, and his breast is red ever since. The curlew and seagull spend most of their time near the shore. They fly a little inland, when bad weather comes. Swallows flying low is a sign of bad weather and if they soar above the trees of good weather. Jackdaws build their nests in chimneys and give much trouble to householders. When wild geese fly towards the sea it is a sign of fine weather, towards the mountains of bad weather; towards the east of frost.
