  1. At the back of the island at Cobh there is an old hill called Mackey's hill.
The road runs past Mr Birds house at Rossleague and goes down to Mr Collin's farm. Captain Mackey came by boat to rob the Martello Tower and when he was chased he ran up the hill and so it got its name. There is another old road called the Rope Walk it is at the back of this school on what we call the back road and it leads to the Old Graveyard.
Until a few years ago there was an old ferry that used to take people and cars across. It was a kind of a bridge and was worked by chains and pulleys. It crossed from Cobh at a very narrow part called East Ferry and connected with the Mainland near Midleton.
There is another road called the Tea Road people say that on a farm there a man tried to grow Tea.
About 3 miles from the town there is a hill called Gibbet Hill it is supposed that people used to be hung there it is now called the Ferry Road.
