Local tradition in this school area is nil. This locality was a commonage between the estates of O'Lehane of Castlelyons and McCarthys of Carrignavar. It was used as a grazing place for cattle being too rough for sheep by farmers in the McCarthy estate.
Such occupants, as were there, were almost completely wiped out during the famine years. This commonage was purchased by Hudsons and such occupants as were there were ruthlessly evicted and replaced by others as servants and such.
