  1. A fire occured in this locality in the year 1930. It occured on the property of Mr. Walsh a farmer residing near the village of Ballynoe. One night when they were not long after retiring they were awakened by the shouts of the village people who had seen the fire. They drew water from a stream near by and succeeded in quenching the fire after about an hour's hard work, otherwise the dwelling house and stores would, undoubtely, have been burned down. It was well for the unfortunate owner that he had his place insured as he was well compensated for his loss.
