- It is common information that priests suffered in trying to escape when the English were crushing the Catholic religion. This is a story told by Mr O Brien of Coole. He said that there was a priest celebrating Mass somewhere in the hollows in Mr Barry's field. The priest at that time used have scouts watching lest any soldiers might come un aware.
