- Cows are generally tied in timber bales in the cowshed. They are also tied with ropes. The rope is tied to the horns and then attached to a post in the cow house.
When milking a cross cow her hind legs are tied with a spansel made from a rope or a súgán.
When driving a cross cow she is tied with a cow masc. A rope is tied around the horns and then attached to her fore leg.
In the spring and Summer the cows are allowed out in the pastures by day and by night. In the winter they are tied in the stalls by night and are fed with hay and turnips.
Holy water is sprinkled on the cows on May Eve.
