    He heard of a young girl named Mary Kelly who frequently visited O Keeffes hiding places, he sought her out and laid his plans.
    One day Mary brought Donal food and as she was leaving him a slip of paper fell from her. O Keeffe took it up and read: "Admit Mistress Kelly to His Majesty's barracks in the town of Mallow.
    He thought her from him and said "Oh Mavourneen you woman of blood; you are false to your county and false to your lover." He stabbed her just as his spy rushed in to inform him that the redcoats were coming up the glen. He escaped them that time, but was caught later and killed in Araglen near Fermoy.
    The following verse is from a poem of that time.
