- There was a heavy snowfall here in the year 1891. In some places it almost covered houses and the people of the house had to cut a way out.
At Waterloo the mail train ran into a drift of snow and had to stay there until next day when it was dug out. It was snowing all one night. A lot of animals were covered, and beasts and birds died of the hunger. The people had to do without food for days.
