  1. There was a great storm in Ireland in 1839. People forecast the storm a few weeks before it actually took place. The wind began to blow very strongly one night.
    It blew so fiercely that outhouses, trees and walls were blown about like feathers. A wood of Larch trees was levelled completely near Blarney. Many houses were blown down also. The wind was called "The Big Wind".
    (The wood of Larch mentioned, was in the townland of Clogheen Milcon, in the parish of Blarney)
