  1. Copied from a booklet called "Bits of Blarney" which Pat Meany, Garrycloyne, Blarney- a past pupil of this school, picked up in Cork City Library. Pat Meany is now about 15 1/2 years of age.
This is a story told us by a man named McKenzie of New York who came to visit Blarney in 1880 & met a hedge - school - master near the Castle who told him also the stories found at Pages 28 (Traditional Origin of Blarney x Lake.) and P. 34 "The Bare Meadow".
