  1. A Story
A next-door neighbour of mine, Mickey Crowley, who is not ninety years, told me this story. One night when he was going home from a neighbour's house across the fields he notices a small light some distance from him quenching and lighting at intervals. He was going as he thought to his house, but in reality he was going around and around the field. He was walking for over an hour when he got both frightened and exhausted so he stopped for a while to consider. He had often heard of Jack of the Lantern but he never believed such a person existed. The thought struck him to turn his coat inside out as others did when they were in the same position. No sooner did he do so than he was able to find the paths which led to his house. This is a true story as the man to whom it happened is alive still.
