Near Bandon there is an old fort called Liosaphooka.

Near Bandon there is an old fort called Liosaphooka. This fort is one of the largest forts in West Cork. It was said that in olden times numbers of little leprechauns used be seen there
On one occasion it happened that an old man met one of these little men at a late hour of the night
The old man caught a hold of him and asked him for a crock of gold
The leprechaun replied "I will give it to you just now only hold my horse right behind you
The old man turned round and when he looked again the leprechaun was gone
