    A carrier from Roscarbery was returning from Cork with a heavy load.

    (continued from previous page)
    A hat was passed around and the carrier contributed three pence which was all he possessed. He fell into a deep sleep and when he awoke was lying by the fence, his horse grazing quietly and on a stone beside him the money which he had paid the piper the previous night.
