    used for grinding the wheat before wind-mills or water-mills came into use. It was the first stone hand-mill established for grinding corn.
    There were different kinds of bread made.
    "Stampy" bread was made from raw potatoes, sour milk and flour. It was also called "potato cake :
    "Boxty" bread was made from butter, water, meal and flour.
    When making a cake a cross was made on top of it in order that it would bake quickly.
    Special bread was made at certain times of the year such as pancakes on Shrove Tuesday night
