    all the pleas and protestations of the fairy he refused to let him go until he showed him the where-abouts of the hidden treasure. Seeing he had no escape the Leprachaún at last accquised and off they started the man always keeping his eyes fixed on his prisoner who tried by divers falsehoods and plans to divert his gaze.
    At last they came to a big forty acre field on which yellow groundsel grew in profusion. He pointed to one particular plant and told him the gold was hidden beneath it. The young man tied his garter around the stalk, drew a circle around the plant, and started home for a spade and shovel. As he was departing the fairy called after him.
    "Good-bye young man you are rich and brave and clever."
    "Good-bye" the happy youth replied "and joy be yours forever." As he went along he thus communed with himself
    "And by my word my own cailín
    To her I'll prove no traitor
    No other girl shall be my wife
    Even if my luck were greater."
    He had now reached home and appropriating the necessary articles he returned
