    These receive no payment. The amount of land under potatoes varies according to the amount of land owned by the farmer. As all the holdings around here are very small very seldom more than two acres are sown. The varieties grown are Aran Banners, Kerr's Pink, Irish Queens, Champions (which are a very old potato) British Queens and last but not least are Golden Wonders which are unrivalled as a table potato.
