    his eighty-seventh year and is venerated by all around. There is a deplorable lack of folklore in Coolcolaughta as all its old inhabitants have long since passed to their eternal reward, leaving the land destitute and lonely.
    These facts were related to me by my father Michael MacCarthy on May 9th 1938.
