    foolhardy action had caused all the trouble. Hayes clung to the upturned boat. O'Driscoll the fourth member of the party was never seen after the capsizing of the boat. They were in a sorry plight and would certainly have been drowned had not a man named Mr. Maurice Foley manned a boat and gone to their assistance. He picked up the three survivors. Driscoll was never seen alive again, but his body was recovered by a dragnet a few days later. An inquest was subsequently held and the usual verdict in such cases was given. The remains were interred in Ballydehob cemetary.
    This story was related to me by my father Michael MacCarthy on April the 20th 1938.
