    of these holy men was noised abroad eleven boys from the whole Continent of Europe came over to be taught in Ireland by these wise old pious men. After a while they went away great learned men. By this the doctrine of Christ was preached even farther than the Continent of Europe as many of those learned men who came to Ireland when they went back went out to Australia and Africa to preach the Gospel. This was the chief reason why Ireland was called "The Island of Saints and Scholars."
