  1. The following song was composed by a man by the name of Mr. Denis Roche, of Coolsnactig who died about forty years ago at the age of about eighty years.
    verse I
    Ye true sons of Erin I pray you draw near,
    'Till I read you a tale that is strange for to hear.
    How i was ill-treated the late days of last year
    By a Luther and Calvanish waver.

    When my story is over with scope you may read,
    A caution worth notice I'm going to repeat,
    Beware of the Tory's who go mild and sweet,
    And will laugh like a child to poor Papists.
    3.
    In my rambles from home as I rode on my steed,
    To Dunmanway my course being quite sober indeed,
    I met this old joker who boasts of his creed,
    And he talked me to me in scandal of Papists.

    He called me a monkey, a thief and a rogue,
    He said that our Clergy were sunk in sad woe,
    He barked at my face and most daringly roared,
