  1. BOXTY BREAD
    Raw potatoes were peeled and grated. They were then squeezed and mixed with salt and baked on a pan or griddle.

    FLUMMERY
    Seeds of wheat are left steeping in water for a week. They are then boiled. This is called flummery.

    SOWENS
    Same mixture as for flummery but it is not boiled.

    SÚIDÍN
    Oat meal is put on buttermilk.

    SCINC
    Oat meal and flour and salt put on boiling water makes a sort of soup.

    MEADE
    A drink made from honey and water.

    FOLK CURES & CHARMS
    1) The seventh son of a family has a cure for ring-worm.
    2) Chicken-weed is a cure for sore neck.
    3 Chicken-weed cures a burn.

    SWEAT-HOUSES
    A large fire was lighted in a wooden house. Chairs inside and people stayed here till they got very warm. It was supposed to be a cure for a cold.

    DRINKING VESSELS USED YEARS AGO
    Pitchers - delph used for holding water
    Noggins - made of wood - like mugs
    Scibs
    - when potatoes were boiled they were put out on a scib. (made of rods - shape of a large dish)

    Fribin (?) - was like a small barrel used for holding butter
