    Thomas Mc Garrell who lives in the townland of Kednagullion can cure the strain.
    Patrick Sherry of Clonavogy can cure the stye on the eye.
    A famous cure for the stye, and still practised is to pluck nine thorns off a gooseberry bush, and to prick slightly the inflamed eyelid with each thorn - making the sign of the cross before casting aside each thorn. This to be repeated eight times or on nine consecutive mornings. The stye will be cured by the ninth morning.
